Just check who does the research for AstraZeneca.
It is so sad that FDA approves Crestor for kids.
So many kids on statins of any kind will become diabetic. Looks like the FDA didn't read the research. Read the research paper in the New England Journal of Medicine, volume 359, issue 21, November 20, 2008. I read it after developing side effects.
Give the kids a soccer ball instead, please.

Joe:

Here’s the thing ... “High total cholesterol” isn’t really the problem.

The problem is when cholesterol gets out of whack ... or out of balance.

I believe studies have clearly shown that it’s the HDL to LDL RATIO that is THE primary indicator linking cholesterol with heart disease.

A high LDL = probably not good.
A low HDL = not good.

But it’s the relationship between the two that’s the best indicator.

Basically, you can have a higher LDL IF you have higher amounts of good HDL to offset it.

So I agree that lowering total cholesterol isn’t any sort of “cure-all” ... but it’s a misnomer to think that you should ignore cholesterol altogether.

And keep in mind that along with HDL and LDL, triglycerides and homocysteine levels also play a big part. (Especially homocysteine.)

Do diabetes and high blood pressure affect heart attack risk?

You better believe it!

But the severity of those two doesn't negate the impact of having excess LDL clogging up the walls of your arteries and it's effect on your heart.

And yes ... high fructose corn syrup is something that will get your cholesterol ratios all out of whack.

====================

Anna:

I couldn't have said it any better.

It makes me so mad that I really can't bear to think about it for too long. Seriously. It sickens me to think that kids I know and care about may be taking this in the near future.

Hi Colin I heard many Doctors on talk show radio believe that lowering your Cholesterol will not make you live Any longer And will not stop you from having a heart Attack They say that people with low cholesterol are still getting heart attacks. I think what is causing Heart attacks Diebetes And Obesity In Young People. Is the High Frutose Corn syrup that you find in all Junk food and all regular food , Everyone should start reading the chart on the back of all lables , And stop eating anything with High Frutose corn syrup in it. The bad news about high Frutose corn syrup is spreading all across the United States - Joe

Crestor for kids. Even our kids can't be spare if it is a big money issue.
I don't have words to express this atrocity.
